Sign Services can assist with all phases of sign production, from concept to installation. This includes consultation, design, project management, fabrication and installation.
Consultation
Sign Services provides consultation and estimates at no charge. Our staff will perform site visits and surveys to assess the needs for signs. We can offer advice and guidance on various design and installation options that are cost effective and appropriate for the location. Graphic Design
Our in-house designer with over 10 years of experience can layout a preview of your request to guarantee the accuracy of content, location of the sign and how well the sign communicates the message. We can provide a PDF or printed color proof of the signs or project. Please note that the proof is for personal use in connection with the project. It cannot be copied, reproduced or exhibited to anyone outside of your department without written permission from UConn Sign Services.
There is a labor charge for design services dependent on the size and scope of the project.
After client approval, we will work with University Communications (UComm) and University Planning, Design and Construction (UPDC) to ensure compliance with University brand standards. For information on sign standards, please visit brand.uconn.edu.
Project Management
We take the approved design, and then develop an implementation plan and schedule. Regardless of the magnitude or complexity of the project, Sign Services has the expertise to facilitate and coordinate implementation between University departments and other resources. We can make sure the project is completed on time and within budget constraints without compromising quality.
Fabrication
During our fabrication process, we prepare the desired substrate which can be plastic, metal or vinyl. Most signs are built to order even though some are standard. The process involves both machine operation and work by hand.
Installation
This is the final step of the sign making process. We can either deliver the sign for self-install or we can install it for you. There is a wide variety of installation options possible and these are evaluated on a case by case basis.
